🚨 Anti-raid

A raid is a flood of accounts joining at once, usually brand new ones, to spam or disrupt. AutoMod can't see it coming: it only checks messages. Anti-raid watches who joins.

Set it up

Go to AutoMod → Anti-raid in your server's settings and turn on Anti-raid protection.

Join bursts. Choose how many members joining how fast count as a raid (for example, 10 within 10 seconds). When that happens, Vaqun turns on raid mode for as long as you choose (5 minutes to 24 hours):

  • Pause invites: Discord's own "Pause invites" (Server Settings → Security), so nobody new can join until raid mode ends. It resumes by itself.
  • Members who join during raid mode: just alert, kick them, or ban them (which also deletes their last hour of messages). This includes the members whose joins set it off. Bots are never touched.
  • Raid alerts: Vaqun posts in the channel you pick when raid mode starts, what it did, and when it ends.

Minimum account age. Accounts younger than this many days are either kicked (Vaqun DMs them why, so a real person can come back later) or timed out until their account is old enough (Discord's limit: 28 days). 0 turns it off.

Commands

  • /antiraid: shows the settings and whether raid mode is on.
  • /antiraid start [minutes]: turns raid mode on right now, even if the automatic rules are off. Your "lock the doors" button.
  • /antiraid end: ends raid mode early and resumes invites. The End raid mode button on the dashboard does the same.

These need Manage Server.

Good to know

  • Vaqun needs Kick Members / Ban Members for those actions, Moderate Members for timeouts and Manage Server to pause invites. Whatever it's missing, it skips.
  • Start with Just alert to see how often it triggers on your server, then switch to kick or ban.
  • A big event (a giveaway, a stream link) can bring real people in fast. Raise the numbers before one, or use /antiraid end if it triggers.
